Established with the purchase of Drumakeenan Grianan-Orange 35th and her daughter Grianan-Orange 49th at the dispersal sale of the Drumakeenan herd of RS Kenny. These descend from the herd of Major Purdon and one of his breeding lines, Lodgepark Oak-Apple, a daughter of Grianan-Orange Vern 53rd. A great bull breeding line, including Druamakeen Honesty, 2nd RDS, Drumakeenan Do-A-Lot, champion Roscommon October 2003 for 4500gns to the Deverall Family and in more recent years Grianan Cantona, Champion Roscommon Spring 2005 and sold to AG Wright Farms in the UK for €4800 and Grianan Firecracker sold to The Corlismore herd of the McKiernan Family for €10,000

This family bred one of the very best bulls at Westwood in Westwood Handicap. Founded through Coxall Pearl 4th by Tarrington Do-a-Lot out of Brakes Pearl, by Vern Robert, who’s dam Pearl 29th was by Crossways Emeralute by Royal Champion Resolute. Tracing back through Pearly (bred by Mr. S. Robinson, Lynhales and by Royal Champion Gainsbourgh) to the Pearl family of Mr. J. H. Arkwright of Hampton Court.

Westwood Laura

In September 2002, Westwood Laura 400th was born. It therefore must rank as one of the most prolific families in the breed. It has also produced top bulls, including Westwood Postman, Royal Champion and Bull of the Year 1980 and Westwood Notable, Horned Bull of the Year 2000 and weighing over 1600kgs at his fourth birthday, probably the heaviest British Hereford of the 20th Century. The family was founded with the purchase of Shucknall Laura 6th, by Haven Jubilee, by Tarrington Magnate, by Royal Champion Tarrington Idol, and out of Jane 2nd by Free Town Bodyguard. Laura 6th’s female line traces back eight generations to Britannia, bred by Mr. W. Tudge of Adforton, and sired by Ancient Briton. This is the same female line as the Sherlowe Models, Llandinabo Spotlights and Field Necklaces. All the cows of the Lawford Herd are members of the Laura family and comprise of two breeding lines, Laura Linda and Laura Rose.
